I know there's usually a WWDC in June, but is there any event before then that we could possibly see the new iPhone getting announced at?

Actually, it's a good bet that there will be another event in June to announce iPhone OS4.0 for the iPad and the iPhone. At which point Apple will also announce when the iPhone will be available for purchase.

The iPad event yesterday happened because Apple just told everyone to show up.

Bam, instant event.

It doesn't have to match up with some other pre-planned thing. They can just do it whenever they want to do it.

They may also have another event to launch the dev. beta of iPhone OS 4.0, like they did last March with 3.0. If they do have such an event they could also have some new hardware news...

Yeah, I also heard there was some type of event in March.

And also which sucks is that WWDC is 3 weeks later this year than last year, so that means an iPhone 4th Gen launch would probably be similar to the 2G and 3G, middle to end of July, instead of the mid-June last year which was nice.

Hopefully there will be a March event to demo 4.0 I'm very interested in what they have come up with and what they finally may allow without jailbreaking.

keep in mind, that the iPhone 3GS wasn't announced until June...and was then released later that month

Usually over the past years the magic months for apple to release something new is

MARCH (Spring)

JUNE/JULY (Summer)

SEPTEMBER (Fall)

JANUARY. (Winter)
