Just wondering who's purchased a smart case and what's your take on these?

Are they really worth the money?

I bought one. Personally I really like it. I had used 3rd party folio cases and they always made the iPad seem bigger and bulkier to me. This case seems perfect.

see the ipad accessories section here - most people think it's junk...

Yeah they're not getting a lot of love. The product is very Un-Apple like. You'd expect more from them.

I went with an aftermarket smart case for $13 and it works great.

My main complaint I had when I tried it was that it's a bit difficult to lift the cover off.

It sits flush with the back and it's not as easy to remove as most of the other cases.

I was going to but after all the reviews and research I did. I decided against getting one due to all the issues with them. So in the end I went for the smart cover with belkin snap shield on the rear seem a perfect combo and adds little to no weight to the iPad nor thickness

My mum's got one and it isn't that good. The bit of PU that connects the front flap to the rear of the case is soft and doesn't hold the ipad at a decent height in the 'typing position'. Also, because the whole case is now made of this slightly spongy material, it's not very stable in the 'video position'. The fit is ok but not fantastic, the device can move around a bit and whilst it is better than many, the centering of the switches, ports and camera are not perfect. I think smartcover + rear shell is a better option.

i had one but i sent it back, it was too lose on my iPad 2 and it felt rather cheap, kinda like some fluffy toy for children. totally ruined the "value" of the device.

ill try it again at the store on my new iPad 3 to see if it fits better

No i don't use any smart case to my iPad. Actually i don't find any worth of it because without any smart case my iPad is still looking perfect. :). So where is the necessity of it!
