So who went for the entry level MBP 14”? and what is your use case?

Is it worth it?

Me. My current 13" M1 Pro has handled all my tasks with zero issues. I have never found myself needing more power.

I got the 14" base model because I wanted the 120hz miniLED screen. I also wanted to be able to use 2 external monitors when docked.

I can't say if it is worth it until I see it in person, but I hope so. I did get $740 on the trade in for my MBP so it helped make the decision easier too.

I am likely to go with the entry-level MBP 14". Honestly M1 MBP 13" would probably be good enough for my standard use, but I like the built-in ports. I am coming from a 2012 MBP i7 with 16GB RAM so really anything would be a huge jump for me.

Went with the base 14”… a part of me wants to cancel it for the 10/16 setup. A part of me says I’ll be fine with the base. In terms of usage… occasional FCP editing, occasional photoshop, might try running some games on it. Nothing crazy really.

Sounds like base is enough for you

I am contemplating between the base MBP 14” or the 24 Inch iMac, but with the spec I want on the iMac it comes in at £1699 whereas for £200 more I can get the MBP… which gives me portability, better screen with 120hz, overall better performance… but on the down side I would be loosing 10” of screen real estate… mmmm… decisions!

Going from a Early 2015 MBP 13” to the Entry 14” MBP and I’m excited. I think this machine will keep me going for the next 5+ years. It’s probably insanely fast compared to what I’m used to so I didn’t feel for the need to get a higher spec. I can always pay it off in a year with my Apple Card and then just trade it in or sell it and upgrade in another 2 years but I’m planning on having this one for a while. They just updated it with pretty much everything I was looking for in a laptop.

I've gone for the base 14" after the base 13" 2016 Pro with Touchbar. That's lasted 5 years well (although I'm starting to feel it struggle with some things), so I'm hoping this will keep me going another 5.
