I've been having my new iPhones delivered to me for who knows how many years. But I really miss the days of waiting in line at the Apple store(s) and meeting new people along with just enjoying the hype on iPhone launch day. Well, those days are long gone so I decided I was going to opt for picking up my new iPhone 13 Pro Max phones at the Apple store instead now that I've entered the wonderful life of retirement. I know it still won't be like the old days where there's a bunch of Apple fans getting together and whatnot. But at least it can somewhat feel like that when I see other people there doing the same thing.

So who else is doing the same thing on launch day tomorrow?

Me, but I'm starting at Verizon. But only because they messed up my order and it's the only chance I have of getting my devices in hand tomorrow.

For me, standing in line is long gone and will never do it again. I like the convenience of having to order for home delivery.

I’ve never stood in line. I’ll be at the store tomorrow however (to pick up the one I reserved). I’ll get a smell taste of what I missed.

Nice sentiment, but with mask mandates, it's unlikely you are going to "see" anyone. I'd try again after children are vaccinated and covid infections are way, way down.

I have been having them delivered to my address so far but this time I will be picking up my iPhone 13 Pro tomorrow at the Apple Store.

I still can get excited about these small things in life and last year the delivery was late afternoon which I did not like. I did not want to wait for the delivery the whole day this time so chosen to pick it up. Now, I know exactly when I will be getting the phone. No need to track the delivery vehicle :)

I am. You don’t really stand in line… or at least I didn’t last year. You just walk up to somebody with your QR code. They scan it and in a minute or so, somebody else brings your phone out to you. UPS doesn’t show up here until late afternoon so I’d rather just run down to the mall, pick it up, and be on my merry way.

Yeah, that's another reason why I chose to pick up in store vs delivery. I'm almost at the end of the line with my UPS guy which means I wouldn't be getting my new iPhone until 5:00pm or possibly later. Like I said earlier, I'm retired now and I have all the time in the world. So driving to my Apple store is nothing but a thing. Hopefully I can browse the store and see what kind of goodies they have available as well.

I am, was actually surprised my local apple store had the model I wanted for launch day pick up, for me it was kinda a no brainer, still hate going to the mall but it is what it is

8am pickup. This is a first for me as well, and it’s nice not to wait for a UPS delivery that initially says “Deliver by whatever time,” but then it’s not delivered until after 7:30pm. Or, you get the dreaded “Sorry we missed you…”

Totally STOKED!

I’ve never experienced the camping out at the Apple store. I used to order through my carrier until last year when I ordered through Apple for pickup at the UPS CC. It was an exciting experience to track my order until it was in my hands.

This year, I opted for in-store pickup because of pre-planned travel. My pickup time is shortly after the store opens. This will be the closest I get to the stand-in-line experience at an Apple store. Looking forward to it, definitely excited, but also love that I will be in and out.

Not interested in camping out or even waiting too long for my package. Guess I’m spoiled by Amazon and also I have other priorities for my time.

I did camped out a few years since the 3G. And switched to home delivery when they introduced the home delivery and no longer let people stand in line overnight. Usually I get the phone held at a UPS CC and pick up first thing in the morning. But this year since I’m not working on Friday and I’ll need to call or email UPS to have the package held at the CC, and with recent tracking mess with other packages with UPS, I chose in store pick up instead.

I worked the launch of the XS I think at the local apple store. I’m excited to head back to the store being a customer and feel the excitement and upbeat energy—definitely needed some positive experience during the pandemic.

Super excited that I got the email at 6:09pm tonight (Thursday) saying my preorder is ready for pickup! Can’t wait to actually hold the new phone in hand!

I will pick up in store for the first time in years. Last year, I was tracking the UPS truck and sure enough it stopped in front of the house the usual early afternoon time. He sat there for a good 5 minutes, then simply drove off. Then at like 7:00 pm which is way beyond when we normally get UPS deliveries, a driver pressed the door bell. Turned out that it was loaded in a different truck and the driver saw it at the end of the day. Luckily he didn't just return to the depot and have it delivered on the right truck the next day.

Anyway, didn't want to chance it this year, so I am going to pick it up at my assigned time.

I am.

I miss those days of getting up at 6am and waiting in line with other fans. Slowly creeping up and the employees coming out cheering. It was fun.

Then I selected delivery at the nearest UPS center and would go pick it up there at 8am. So devoid of any excitement.

Last year and this year I’ve chosen apple store pickup. It’s the next best thing to standing in line.

I'm doing store pick-up. Didn't know what time it would be delivered, and I have to work tomorrow so can't sit around the house all-day waiting. I'll pick it up once I'm off and just go home.

The Store. I have the day free, and wife is going with - so we can do lunch nearby as well. Forecast for today is 72° and Sunny so it should be a nice day.

After waiting nearly 2 hours one launch day evening just to pick up my iPhone 11 in store order, I won’t be doing that again for a long time.
