Why not just make this keyboard into a wireless one:

The arrows are half size and there's no numeric keypad... Did they have to do that? I mean, its perfectly fine on the MBPs, because they're laptops and they don't have much space for a keyboard. But why exactly do they need to make a desktop keyboard so compact? So it'd look good on the Apple website?



I'm pretty tempted to buy one of the keyboards in the pic above.
 
users were requesting smaller wireless keyboards as they are easier to move around and Apple likes minimalism.

i use the wired keyboard for the bigger size and numpad.
 
They probably did it for aesthetic reasons. It looks better without the numpad, that's all. Plus they figured that regular users don't even use the numpad (on a regular basis) anyway.
