Many of you are essentially saying that this phone is a complete and utter failure.

I’ve noticed that those of you making these unsophisticated comments either already have an iPhone and/or really like the existing 3G quite a bit.

Pricing (U.S. subsidized):

iPhone 3Gs 32 MB - $299
Iphone 3G 16 MB - $299

Here’s the thing; if you dropped and broke your phone in the near future and needed to buy a new one you’d pick the new one for the same price.

Here’s the clincher; if you were told that you could replace your phone with the new iPhone for $299, or get a brand new remaining stock 3G for $199 you’d pony up the extra $100 for the new one. You would make all sorts of arguments to convince yourselves that the revised hardware would be useful in countless ways…just like you’re currently trying to convince yourselves that it’s not worth upgrading.

It’s a nice upgrade. One that will benefit me in a number of relevant ways.
