So you've got 2GB of data...

A lot. Though I hop on wifi whenever possible. The only time I ever got close was on a vacation where my kid was watching a lot of Netflix on 3G to keep him occupied while we were out to dinner frequently. And I managed to keep it under by like 1 mb.

Under 1MB of Netflix?

Actually, I'm wondering how much streaming radio will take? I was hoping to do something like Pandora for a few hours 10 days per month? I'm going to be on a shared data plan but allocated about 3GB for myself.

For those who are on this plan ( 2GB of data)

how often do you use twitter/facebook/youtube?

Confusing question. Twitter and Facebook take very little out of the gb. You can check your usage online.

It is other things that can change your numbers in a hurry. Locations services, streaming music or videos, etc.

Sorry that wasn't clear. I meant I managed to keep my total data under 2 gb by about 1 mb or something ridiculously close like that by the end of the billing cycle. The Netflix was probably a good gig of data.

I regularly use 10gb+ via Three in the UK. I watched lots of football through Sky Go on either my iPad or MBA.

Average user consumes only 300 MB every month. Just to be safe people go with 2GB plan. If 1GB Mobile Share Plan is priced reasonably, or even if there is a 2GB every one would prefer that, so AT&T's trick is to price 1GB every close to 4GB Mobile Share, and skip 2GB altogether, forcing customers to 4GB option.

when you say location services, you mean for the weather app and stuff?

Twitter doesn't use much?

YES!

Weather.app's use of location is minimal. What really hurts using location service is Google/Apple maps where the map data is downloaded when needed rather than being always available on your phone.

Twitter is mostly text-based, so it's very light in data usage.

for sprint im up to about 500mb with 14 days left in my cycle

im thinking of switching to verizon adn was thinking about the 4gb but its very pricey

does the lte cause you to use more data ?

Data usage is the same when loading pages but since LTE is faster, you'll be able to browse stuff quicker which could cause you to use more data.

Directly, LTE will not cause more data.

But, in real life - you will do more due to speed.

Sort of like the old days of Dial Up service. Everybody avoided sending attachments, etc. Now, folks send multiple meg pictures without even thinking about it. Heck, my XT computer had a 10 meg hard drive. About the size of a few pictures now.

how much will 3GB cost you?

how much will 3GB cost you?

? It's a complicated question since I'm actually using the 8GB data plan but 5GB is dedicated somewhat to a mifi which I pay for someone else to use (sometimes they use 2GB, other times pretty close to 5GB). So 8GB is $90 but the total price for my phone plus 3GB more data is $70/month.
