Hi All,

Looking at iPhone cases for my wife and I. I thought I was settled on a hard shell case, but I'm wondering if a soft-shell would absorb an impact better.

Opinions?

Thanks!

To be honest I've always thought of the soft cases as gooey pointlessness, I'd say a hard case would offer much more protection.

I have used lots of cases in the past...now my favorite is Griffin Reveal case. It is hard transparent shell but has rubber lining the sides so best of both worlds. Good impact protection because of hard casing that has rubber to absorb impact as well. Plus the transparent shell really "reveals" the beauty of the iPhone.

It's a tough call because there is no right answer.

I've had the hard shell with the Incase Slider. I can't tell you how many times that I have dropped my 3G in the last 6 months, at least twenty. And that is from 3-4 feet in the air onto concrete and asphalt. Still works perfect, though the case looks mangled.

In my opinion, the Incase slider has done a fantastic job at protecting my phone from physical blemish. Is the chrome bezel scratched, yes, slightly. But, it has done it's job in protecting my phone from looking like crap.

Right now I'm rocking the iSkin solo, aka the softy. Funny thing. I don't find myself dropping the phone as much because it's got more grip than my gunmetal slider.

My opinion so far.

The slider will protect from blemishes on impact, but it will definitely not dampen the impact.

My next case will also be the Griffin Reveal, that thing looks sweet!!

Well I did ask my wife and she like it hard not soft. :p

You could go with "both" and get an iSkin Solo or Solo FX.

Yeah I have the Solo FX with an invisible shield on the back and it works wonders. Amazing case, looks cool too. Also if you get the FX you get a mirror screen protector which is pretty badass :)

Get a Switcheasy Capsule Neo. I struggled to find a perfect case and this is it. Outstanding customer service as well.
