Hi guys,

I have some money for Christmas (£150) and I want to get a soft synth for Logic Pro X. Everything on my copy of Logic at the minute is standard - I have no add ons.

My system specs are:

OS 10.10.5 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 8GB RAM

Logic is good, but I'd like something that has lots of downloadable presets that I can tune to my liking.

Sylenth1 is in your budget. It's very light on the CPU and doesn't sound that bad for it's CPU load.

Serum by Xfer Records is many people's top recommendation right now. It's well suited for beginners as it's a very visual oriented synth that shows envelopes and LFOs and wavetables clearly, while still being almost undoubtedly the most powerful soft synth out there. It sells for $189, or about £130.
