What's the difference between SMS and SoftBank iOS email using your mail app?

Are you able to send SMS to all carriers in Japan i.e. Docomo / AU users as well?

Why does SoftBank have an online version of the SMS mail but not the xxx.i.softbank.jp mail?

Is there are price data difference between the two?

Thanks

SMS can only be used between phones of the same carrier.

Softbank iOS email is used to communicate with phones on Softbank or any other Japanese carrier...as well as normal email address'.

Well something is amiss because my wife who has an iP4 is sending SMS to all her friends who are using Docomo etc.

SMS is SoftBank to Softbank and Docomo only. AU uses a different SMS system.

The Softbank email address would be used to communicate with au and emobile users I guess (or if you don't have a SMS plan and only have the packet-houdai plan)
