I've just updated my iPhone to iOS 16 and I received this when I connected my iPhone to my iMac (running Mojave).

What software is this asking me to install?

I got the same message, I don't know what was downloaded but after my laptop finishing installing, my iPhone was able to connect fine

iOS 16 isn’t officially out yet so it downloaded the necessary files for Mac OS to sync properly with an iOS device on iOS 16..

So, I clicked “install” (above) and my iMac dutifully installed this/these mysterious mystery files. My own research lead to the conclusion the mystery software was some “XCode” update…?

Anyway, now my iMac will not boot. I’ve been stuck with the Apple icon and fully loaded bar for about an hour. Whatever this, these files are, they appear to have bricked my iMac, which was purring along fine for the last 4 years.

Did a PRAM reset. All fixed now.
