Ok, so I just recently purchased my second macbook pro. It's a 13 inch 2.9 GHz model. I'm a mathematician, as my job, so I need to install a program called latex onto my machine. I've also installed other stuff like skype, msn, viscosity (I live in China), and basically normal things.

The problem is, I have Chinese friends (who don't speak English), that I chat with online. So naturally I want to type in Chinese. However when I try to use Chinese it very quickly switches back to English. I have had this exact same issue with my previous mac, and my new one is literally 1 day old.

So basically I believe that I've installed something on my mac which is screwing up the language software pre-installed on the machine. Having the same issues on two separate computers (bought 4 years apart), suggests that there is some kind of software compatibility issue.

The problem is, I have absolutely no idea how to fix it, or how to even check that. I called the mac helpline before anybody asks. They suggested 2 things, try restarting in safe mode and see if you get the same problem, secondly create a test account and try that.

I did both, and it appeared to resolve the issue, but here's where it gets really weird. Once I logged back in normally, the problem appeared to be gone for a good hour or so, then suddenly it started happening, so it's hard to tell if starting the computer in safe mode had any affect or not. I really want to get into the actual coding of the software and see if there's any conflicts anywhere, do you guys have any suggestions?
