Software for a new Mac user

So my friend just got a 24" iMac, first Mac ever. And I just wanted people to list some apps (freeware/shareware/games whatever) that I could suggest to them. In the meantime I'll be digging through my apps folder.

i highly recommend quicksilver

spaces is great too (although I really did like the older programs' cube visualizations, built-in)

expose is nice (built-in)

adium is nice (I had some issues with iChat...but iChat is pretty nice too. I just liked the Adium icon in the dock )

VLC is the great do-it-all in terms of media playing

AppCleaner is great at removing applications

Oh yes! Quicksilver. I use launchbar (more stable, but less features. Just got it for free via Macheist) but I should add that to my list.
