Software for a "TV Bulletin Board"

I work for a church / school and we have LCD screens throughout our building that run a PowerPoint slide show of upcoming events and announcements.

I'd like to replace the computer and go a different route with the software.

Does anyone know of any announcement board type software? Maybe something with a running "news ticker" style thing on the bottom.

You could use Keynote or iMovie to create a more professional looking system.

Then again, I would have connected the computer to a VCR, then output the video on channel 3 or 4, then any TV could view the announcements.

I've always see the system you describe run with PowerPoint, I'm not aware of another system to do it, aside from Keynote, iMovie, or similar software.
