Hey guys. First off, can anyone recommend a quality application that I could take efficient notes with in mainly math/physics driven classes? I've heard from many that freehand notes are the best for this situation, but my handwriting is both slow and sloppy and I am not that great of an organizer (although my goal is to become one). An application that supports organization, calendars, tasks, and all of the other utilities needed for the relatively overloaded college life would be awesome, but if these utilities cannot be found with a decent physics/math input what 2 programs can be recommended?
Second, what's the crowds consensus on Anti-virus software in a college environment (dorm). I am relatively computer savvy and back up my machine on a fairly consistent basis, but the safety/ease of my compute is pretty damn important. Also, the current battery life of my machine (2010 15' MBP i7) is pretty terrible, so would an antivirus program make a decent dent in that already crappy capacity?
I belief OS X to be as safe as it comes, just with the high mac-usage rate in college, the shared WIFI, and the possible jackasses walking out of programming classes, should I be worried?
In regards to the battery situation, I blame the current lack of potential on my power-hungry setup (2010 MBP, 15" high-res matte, i7, 500gb 7200rpm drive) although I usually have the brightness near half, bluetooth off, intel graphics locked on, with safari, itunes, and mail. I also admit that I may have botched my last battery calibration (I used the computer as it was recharging from its 5-hour dead sleep), but if I am to be using this computer pretty consistently for taking notes and such, the battery life is pretty important to me.
Sorry for the useless information, and thanks for any help you may throw my way.
