software for watching hd video

Hello, I own a pb 17 inch, the latest one. If I want to watch a maximum resolution hd video with quictime I get a lot of latency. VLC won't recognize the format. Does anyone know a better program for viewing this?

no it's not that the pb is to slow, it's quicktime, I can assure you that. I had a program that displayed hd perfectly(1080i), but since I reinstalled everything I lost it and I don't remember what it was called.
