"I have Sibelius 7 (music composition software) which I've been using on my Windows laptop for the last couple of years. I have now moved over to a Macbook Pro & am unable to install my Sibelius program. When I try to open any of the disc folders, I receive a message : You can’t open the application “Sibelius7Installer.exe” because Microsoft Windows applications are not supported on OS X. Yet it clearly states on my Sibelius boxed set (very expensive software) that it is compatible with both Windows and Mac. Please help!!"

You have to use a different installer of Sibelius 7 that is specific for OS X.

yep the installer specific for OS X commonly end with ".dmg"
whereas the installers for Win are ".exe"..
