Software RAID 0+1 ... just had first "Damaged/Fail" & Degradation .. help?

I'm not really sure what to do here, since it's saying that the entire 2nd half is degraded, but the drives are "Online". If this is 0+1 .. what's going on? Is my data hosed? Is half the RAID unavailable?

I'm moving very soon and need to get this sorted ASAP. What would be the best course of action?

Right, that's what it looks like, but it's actually a slice of two drives ... and the two drives within that slice are "online". I don't know what to do!

I'm freaking out about this. I don't even have a Lion install disk to rebuild it with so I can either use Snow Leopard's or bring it to the Genius Bar. (??) — It's my boot drive.

First thing I'd do is clone your boot drive (if you don't have one already) on a single hard drive.

Looks like both RAID 0 stripes are fine, but there is some problem reconciling the mirror between them. Since it's on the disk 0&3 side, you could pull disk0 and check the status for a change, replace it and do the same with disk3. If one of those results in no change, I'd say that pulled disk is bad, and replacing it should rebuild it. Leave disks 2&4 alone, since they seem to be fine.

Yes. Ran a S.M.A.R.T. check and it said the drives are fine, but I agree that it would make more sense that one of the drives is lagging or failing.

OK, a friend of mine helped me drop the degraded section and delete it so that it could be readded. It's now rebuilding ... but I'm just concerned about why or how this happened in the first place:

I think if you've had that RAID running for four years and this is the first issue, you're in good shape.
