On the PC I used to use Sony SoundForge which let me record, clean, normalize, etc... what is recommended for the Mac?

GarageBand? Audacity? Bias Peak LE? SoundSoap? AudioHijaack? A search of the forums will reveal plenty of discussion.

Thanks but I am looking for a recommendation, not a list or an afternoon research project.

AudioRecorder looks like it will work but it is very basic. Bias Peak looked like it was made for professionals!

I need something that will record audio cassettes, line-in voice and let me save it raw. Then let me manipulate the file and save it in different formats and compression levels (mp3 low for streaming audio or high for audio CD).

I don't know enough about GarageBand. It looks like it will do some of what I need but I don't know about the last part.
