Software Update Crashes Continually

Software Update now crashes every time I try to check for new software. I have not had a successful update since the DVD Playback Update on 7/8/05. I have no idea what is wrong but obviously not being able to get ANY software updates is a big problem.

Anyone heard of this or having a similar problem?

Fo to Apples pages and download 10.4.2 standalone updater and install that. That should help.

It's a known Tiger bug (now fixed in 10.4.2 apparently)

Software Update quits unexpectedly with Mac OS X 10.4

It's possible that Software Update could unexpectedly quit when installing software in Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger (via a network connection other than your built-in Ethernet port such as AirPort), but there's a quick and easy fix. Just make a change in Network preferences:

From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
Click Network to display its preference pane.
From the Show pop-up menu, choose Network Port Configurations.
Select the Built-in Ethernet checkbox to enable the port.
Click Apply Now.
That's it. Software Update should now work just fine. If you wish, you can go back to Network preferences and disable the built-in Ethernet port again. You don't have to use Ethernet to download updates.

Thanks. Just grabbed the update. I've grown so accustomed to Software Update forgot I could download the updates the old fashioned way.
