Hi folks

I'm getting reminders of an update when I open iPhoto, but Software Update hangs about 3/4 of the way through the initial scan.

I've initiated it from within iPhoto and also the main dropdown with the same result.

I recently migrated my Mac Pro to this MacBook Pro, and that had iLife '08 on it, whereas the MBP has iLife 11. Could this be an underlying issue?

I have tried removing HD/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist, both with and without restarting, and this has not resolved the issue.

I also removed User/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist.

Interestingly, I noticed that the HD .plist file is immediately regenerated, whereas the User version is not, even after running Software Update. I had to restore the file from the trash (I had not restarted the machine at that point - perhaps this would have done it).

Thanks

Update:
I no longer have the old iLife installed - iLife seems to have been upgraded automatically during the migration from the MP with iLife 08 to the MBP with iLife 11. The MBP came with iLife 11 and I don't recall ever seeing iLife 08 on here after the migrate. Or if it was I have long since deleted it.

I did have HUUUUUGE headaches in the beginning, and made the mistake of migrating from MP to MBP after I'd been using the MBP for some time. I then wound up with two accounts on the MBP, which in the end proved easiest to resolve by reformatting and doing the migrate at the first startup. However, the iPhoto library package I'm now using comes from the first MBP user account I created, before the reformat and remigrate, so perhaps there are issues with changed computer or account names... I have no idea how to investigate whether this might be the issue.
