Software update not expanding package

Hi,... The software update application downloads applications but can't expand them. The error message is : "software update could not expand the package properly".
This is the case for all applications: OS 10.4.9 combined, java, iTunes,... I currently have OS 10.4.6 on a powerbook G4.
There is still enough memory,... what do you think is the problem ?

I don't know. Try manually running the 10.4.9 combo update.
