Software Update not installing downloaded updates

I have the unibody MBP 13". Am running on Snow Leopard.

I ran software update to well, update my software. The application says that it has downloaded 19 updates to be installed during a restart of my OS. However, no matter how many times I click restart to install the updates, they don't install. I only recently encountered this problem after installing final cut pro.

I downloaded Yasu to clear the system log but it didn't solve the problem.

Any ideas?
