Software Update not working - what to do?

Hi Everyone,

I would appreciate any help/advice on the following issue:

I have not been able to use Software Update for a few weeks now, as when I click on Software Update, the "Checking for new software" window comes up and the status bar starts loading but then doesn't move at all - even if I wait for a long time.

I am running OSX 10.5.6, and yes, my Internet connection is up and running.

I have never encountered this issue before... Any ideas? :confused: Thanks in advance.
