I got an old mac from my brother and it has software 10.5.8 what steps do I need to take to get it to the latest version out? Like which softwares should I put on it and in what order should I do it in? I really need help guys!

10.5.8 is the latest version of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_OS_X_Leopard
If you want, and can, go higher you need to at least buy Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard via Amazon or eBay and hopefully get a good deal, as many copies cost up to 90 USD now.
But if you have an older Mac, from 2005 or earlier, 10.5.8 will be the highest version you can install: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple's_transition_to_Intel_processors

To find out, what exact Mac model you use, click :apple: > About This Mac > More Info > Hardware Overview:
