Software update problem

I have just installed i'Life 11 on my imac, no trouble with iMovie, Garage Band and iTunes, when I went to use iphoto got the message - "in order to use iphoto you need to update the lastest version" I did as directed "run software update to install it now", then get message software up to date but when I try to open iphoto I get the same message up saying that I need to install lastest version.

Go to app store, the update should be there.

When I go to apps it says "apps up to date"
