I've been reading the forums for a while and it seems like people have been able to get 6gigs of ram to work in the umbp's that were "4gigs max". I've heard rumors that they will be able to get 8 gigs to work with future software updates/snow leapord? Any truths to this?

The MBP i'm specifically talking about is the late unibody 08 2.53.

No one knows, but that's what everyone is hoping for. I mean if the 13" can get 8GB RAM, why can't the original 15-inch MacBook Pro's get it to right? (wait...this is Apple we're talking about here!)

Besides, you would need to be a hardcore user to even use all 8 GB. I'm perfectly happy with my 4GB.

we will just wait a couple of months and see.
To use 8gb ram its not that hard if you are into lets say multimedia services. it goes out pretty fast, so in my case from 4 to 8gb would be a blast, if possible, if not i guess 6gb will have to do it;)
