I thought I would give my thoughts on this. I thought the 15" rmbp was a great laptop but for me it was way overkill. I sold it and got a base 13" mba 2013. I have zero regrets. Within a day I got use to the screen and that was my biggest concern. I am not a power user so keep that in mind but the new air "feels faster" for basic stuff and my guess it is the faster ssd. The battery life is fantastic and I did not really think that would be a big deal but it sure is nice. I would say apple did a fantastic job with the new air and if you are in the market get one. The difference in weight is very noticeable. One last thing, I was not impressed with the screen in the store but once i got it home and running the screen seems fine to me.

I ordered the 11" 2013 air to replace my 15" rMBP. Can't wait to install that little portable Air :)
I'm sure i'll get used to the non-retina screen, i just hope i won't miss the speaker quality of the rMBP too much.
