Sold MacBook Air shows in Find My app

A MacBook Air I sold earlier this month shows up in my Find My app with the name “User’s MacBook Air”, the location is live.

I tried deleting it from the list, but it reappears. The device doesn’t show up in my list of iCloud devices for example in Settings > iCloud on my iPhone.

I erased the drive and reinstalled Big Sur from recovery before I sold it. Anyone have a similar experience?

Looks like this is working as intended, if the new owner doesn’t sign into iCloud the device remains on the old owners list
