When you open an app, the top status bar changes to a solid white color and all of the icons are colored. Is there a way to make this permanent? I mean instead of having the black & white bar on the home and lock screens.

Anyone know if that's possible? It seems like it should just be an easy toggle or something...

I've asked this before and got no reply then and haven't seen any tweak since so even if it is possible it hasn't been done yet.

If your jailbroken then it's possible. Just create a winterboard theme and you'd be allset. If your not out of jail, then it's not possible yet.

Like it's that easy, i wouldn't know where to start.

My fault, should have known based on your question.
Well, are u jailbroken?, do you have winterboard?, do those terms make any sense? I might be able to help further, depending on your reply.

I am JB, i have Winterboard installed and i know what themes are, i have many that i spend too much time on getting perfect.

Yeah, I used to be the same way. Now I just have 2-3 major themes that I use.
Edit - I just realized your not the op, now I'm confused cause in ur 1st post u said you wouldn't know where to start. In ur last post u say u have many themes that u spend alot of time perfecting. Is just not knowing what the png's names are?

Yeah, I used to be the same way. Now I just have 2-3 major themes that I use. So then, I take it your problem is just what to rename the png's? Or is it something else. Cause I used to have it set up just like you described. Haven't tried with 4.2.1 though. You on 4.2.1 ip4?

I installed 4.2.1. before the new Jailbreak came out but i downgraded back to 4.1 because i was missing what the JB brings to the handset.

Thinking of updating again tonight then JBing again.

Cool, let me see if I can create a theme that matches what the op's original post was asking then I'll get back.

Heres how you would do it. Theres a set of 2 status bars and indicators on the phone. One is called grey and one is called black or something.
You would need to figure out which one is the white indicator, and then theme over the other one. Pretty simple I think

I may be wrong though...
EDIT: They are called black and silver.

EDIT2: That would change the icons but not the bar itself. You could take a picture of the bar and shop out all the icons on it, then apply it over the file for the home and lockscreen one

My fault then. Actually I think I'm going to use a standard one I have. It might be awhile though. After work and my epl game, I'll post back. So sometime in the afternoon. Unless someone beats me to it.

This would be great. What you guys have mentioned have made me wonder... Is there a way I could just swap some files or settings around using iPhone Browser? I am jail broken but no WinterBoard installed.

something like this?

-----------------------

I think i got it, but you also need to replace all the status bar icons with their opposites like i mentioned in my previous post. Goodluck
You also have to put this into this directory and apply it as a theme.

This is what happens when you dont also change the status bar icons aswell

Edit again:
I finished it, and it works. Just need to figure out how to make the clock always black now.

Let me try yours and see if you did it better than mine or something. the clock looked weird to mine on the pages of the springboard :/
Lets just say i think yours is much better done, and for 4.2?
and mine is not very well done and for 4.1 :p

Hey, to each their own right. Just remember, all credit to original creators. Thx again man. Hope op and all like them.

This is what I mean... I want the home screen to always use the white status bar with colored icons, as shown in the second picture. Notice how the biteSMS icon is different on each one. So I'm not sure that changing the status bar alone will work, as somehow it would have to know to change the battery, clock, wi-fi/3G indicators... everything.

Is that what you did in the ones you made? And is it a theme or is this something I can switch in my file system?

So this is the end result I'm looking for... And I want it to always use the colored version of all icons (such as the silent mode icon, mail icon, etc).

Dont think its possible to change the color of the clock. So you would have a white clock with a white background :/

There has to be a trigger somewhere that tells the iPhone to change the display type of the status bar when you open an app... I would guess it should be as simple as changing a variable... I just have no idea where that would be :(
