I understand that with Apple's "no 3rd party apps running in the background" rule that Adobe can't make a flash app cuz it would need to be running at the same time as Safari..

BUT

Can't they just write their own browser instead and have flash built into it?

Or they could just let stuff run in the background considering how popular Flash is. I know Apple prefers other stuff that's not as proprietary (I read some article about that recently), but I don't think Flash is going anywhere soon.

To compare, this annoys me about as much as people who have online videos in Windows Media format. If you put video on your Web site, you either do it in Flash or QuickTime. Don't use bloody WMV!!!
