Feel free to delete this post if this is common knowledge. I haven't seen it before and a search of crash didn't reveal it.

Problem: iPod won't start up on the iPhone 3.0 beta. White screen will appear and then it will just crash to the home screen.

The solution I've seen is to plug it into iTunes, start playing music from the iPhone and unplug it. This works, but what if you're not at home?

Go to the Search preferences: Settings -> General -> Home -> Search Results and unmark the audio files. After that the iPod works fine. I'm not sure if you have to unmark all audio files (music, podcasts, audiobooks) because I've only done this once and I just did them all.

Seems like it's some indexing problem with search.
