I don't know what is wrong but my ssd won't allow repartitioning. I have 1/2 my ssd as free space now and I can't merge the actual parts together or delete and repartition them!! Please help me!

Did you boot into the Recovery Mode (cmd-r) or use your provided system disks (if you're on an older version of OSX). You can be limited to the type of partitioning that can be done if you boot into the SSD and attempt to merge/split the volume

simple way

1. PLEASE BACKUP ALL YOUR DATA
2. and then restart your macbook and press OPTION button when restarting macbook
3. please select DISK UTILITY
4. select your SSD and then klik "ERASE"
5. the last action, select "PARTITION" and create your partition.
6. if done, please re-install your MAC OS and other program

you will get fresh macbook... trust me

I finally fixed it. That may be what I did. I can't remember unfortunately. But everything is fine now. Whew!! I have a properly partitioned drive and a fresh install of mountain lion. Yay. I was up till about 7:30am working on it. Had taken a muscle relaxer for my neck problems and it was making me super drowsy and I got os x installed just before I had to lay down and sleep. Thank you for your help, both if you. I was in a panic last night.

huahahaha, enjoy. take a rest bro :D

If you just repartitioned and reformatted it without changing anything else then you didn't "fix" the underlying problem. It sounds like your SSD may not be using GUID partition tables, which allow resizing.

If you run Disk Utility and highlight your SSD (Not the partition, but the SSD itself), what does it say for "Partition Map Scheme?"
