Hi everyone, I had the same problems as a lot of people with Mavericks on my 2007 MBPro (Santa Rosa) with Time Machine.
I did a backup a few days after I installed it on a partition I have to do all my experiments (W7, Ubuntu, Paralells…). Of course I only did it to test it since my Snow Leopard is running purrrrrfectly buy I always try Apple's new OS X to see if it is worth the upgrade or not.
i erased the partition a short while later 'cause I needed the extra space to store a back-up from a couple of external HD that I was going to reformat and replace and then I reinstalled it using Time Machine… and it worked.
But, last night, I tried to update my TM backup and NADA...
After a few hours, only 1, 14 GB had been copied, so I stop it, reformat the external drive…*NADA
Then I heard my HD working…*Spotlight was doing its thing. So I googled and found a way to disable Spotlight permanently with this terminal command:
sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist
(Should you want or need to re-enable Spolight, just type in Terminal
sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist)
And, just to be safe, I de-selected a re-selected the External HD as the TM Drive.
IT WORKED!!
So, I guess that I should share this with the
Community. I hope that you find it useful.
Have fun!!
