Two of my applications (Disk Utility and Activity Monitor) now look like folders with those same names. When I double-click on them to open, it just opens the application bundle and I see the Contents folder inside.

How can I get them back to being applications and not folders?

Thanks, but I *have* googled it, and tried various suggestions (removed preference files, restarted, I didn't remove my user directory because there's no problem with it, and I didn't mess with the name to cause this problem).

Any other suggestions?

Have you tried renaming the folder - adding .app onto the end?

I can't verfiy if will work or not as I'm on my BB right now.

No you did not search, quick skim shows terminal command to bless the folder again.
