Hi there, MacRumors forums! You collectively have helped with me with quite a bit of obscure Mac problems that I've had. Maybe you can help me with this one, and I apologize for the big wall of text:

I'm a gamer and relatively new LPer, so I record myself playing games, and there's this problem that comes up a lot when I'm in calls with my friends. One of two problems I've had is that other people can hear me through my headset. I thought it was an audio leak from a faulty headset, but I had a friend with a PC test it, and I heard no echo or myself talking, which leads me to believe it's a Mac issue.

The headset I have is the Razer Carcharias, and I enjoy it, personally. It's not amazing, but it works well enough for what I want to do. I've looked up this problem before, and tried all the different methods that say fix it, but still no luck. I've taken to turning down the input volume of my mic so low that it can be hard to hear me talking, and if someone shouts while in a call, or is otherwise loud, they can still hear themselves. The only solution that I've found is to turn down the output sound so far that I can barely hear my friends because they're naturally soft or mutter.

Something I think is related is that if I record while in a call with friends, the audio from the call sounds like it's echoing and in a big, hollow room. I can provide some examples if they would help. I think it's related to the first issue, possibly, but I could be wrong.

Finally, I'm not sure if this is a Skype issue, or a connection issue, or a headset issue, as I don't have any way of testing it and no way to reproduce it, but frequently, the audio from my mic sounds robotic and in recordings, my voice is very crackly. It usually happens an hour or two into a call, and I don't know how to correct it, other than muting my mic and waiting for upwards of 5 minutes until the effect has gone away. One friend had the idea that the problem is with my mic occasionally shorting out, or something along those lines, that would cause the robotic voice. I'm thinking it's a problem with my headset, but if anyone else has any ideas, they would be appreciated.

Now, I've looked into all of these issues, and tried just about everything that comes up on the first ten hits on Google, and no luck with any of them.

If anyone here has even a suggestion to just one of these issues, I'd be so grateful. Sometimes, I'm apprehensive to play with friends because of these audio problems and I'd really love for one of these issues to be resolved, or at least definitely figured out.
