Some checks before I attempt to upgrade my JB 3GS 4.1 to 4.2

I have a 3GS with 4.1 and 05.11 BB. I want to upgrade to 4.2 instead of 4.3 because I've read 4.3 is not so stable. My phone is currently already unlocked and I rely on that. I've been told not to use Greenpoison but instead use snowbreeze2.2 so I can maintain my BB.

What I don't really understand about is if I use Greenpoison, my BB will be upgraded and my phone will no longer be unlocked? That's a big issue not to use Greenpoison.

So here's my plan to upgrade so please tell me if I'm doing it right.

1) Save my SHSH in case anything goes wrong.

2) Download 4.2 firmware.

You have to use either pwnage tool or snowbreeze to create a custom firmware from the stock firmware that you download. You then put the phone in pwned DFU mode using either pwnage tool, or redsn0w and restore to the custom firmware.

If you want to go to 4.2 custom you still need SHSH for that version. If you don't already have SHSH for 4.2 it is way too late.
