Some cockroaches needs killing. How?

So I got roaches hiding out behind the cupboards in my apartment. The exterminator will come in a couple weeks, but until then they're there.

Anything I can do to kill a few so they don't overrun the kitchen in the next two weeks?

This morning I moved the toaster and two of them ran up the wall and behind the cupboard. YUCK!

Bug spray?
A lighter and a spray can of paint?
A shotgun?
A vat of liquid nitrogen to splash on them?

I had a cockroach problem in my last (and final!) apartment... new people moved in below me and brought roaches. The exterminator came 3 times total.... they have to spray all the units in your building or it is a wasted effort. Quite frustrating... you can put down traps but to be honest I don't know if they do anything... I didn't notice "less" but of course I didn't peek in them either.

I did enjoy putting them in ziploc bags and watching the run around with nowhere to go... this was after about month 4 though when I was kinda going crazy and every variation in light I caught out of the corner of my eye ended up seeming like a roach.

No good. A shotgun will cause too much collateral damage while killing only a few roaches. Burn your house down.

my advice keep your place clean after the exterminator comes

in the meantime you could clean the place up like wipe down dust or whatever

Call of Duty is all we need to teach us lessons how to live our lives, forget History, Maths and English, clearly the education system has failed at teaching someone how to kill cockroaches, and we need a more orthodox, Call of Duty 5 based approach:
