Listening into the Q4 Financial Results. Apple executives say that there are still cool PowerPC products to come and they still expect Intel products to be in the market by June '06.

I do not believe we will see Intel products until Jan '06.

Cool PowerPC products in the pipeline? I guess no powerbook updates tomorrow or any day for the rest of the year ...

Yea Apple! To be rechristened, now, as Apple iPod, Inc.

I think Powerbooks will be updated just not to Intel CPU's.

I'm going to go on record for the Freescale dual-core G4 PowerBook and IBM (970 MP) dual-core G5 PM's tomorrow.

Neither would develop either chip without a market for them.

And yeah, I'm probably wrong, but maybe not.

Wise words iGary. thats what im thinking now. "very cool" as Apple Execs would say :D

Did you think they were going to plan this whole hush-hush media event for tomorrow, but then state in the conference call TODAY what it is they are going to announce? I don't understand how you reached this conclusion.

Will apple ever let windows be installed on their machines?

Apple has already stated that they would not impede the installation of Windows on their Intel machines. However, they will not support the configuration for obvious reasons.

I'm sure someone will come up with a nice graphical bootloader for a dual boot config. Why not have the best of both worlds.

They have to update them, an ipod is cool, but it doesnt need to be updated. The pb is so outdated and overpriced right now

My thoughts/prediction exactly.

I would love to see the Freescale dual-core in the PowerBook. If they are indeed available and used by Apple it gives them longer to hold out until the intel transition begins to make sure everything goes as planned. Heres to hoping.

A Freescale dual-core PowerPC G4 in a PowerBook would be awesome.

I guess that we can only cross our fingers and hope for the best. :)

Well I've figured it out.. not that we already didn't know but I have confirmation from Apple's own website. When you go to configure a new Mac all computers have been updated so they appear to be easier to configure.. all but the Power Mac and Power Book that is. My guess is Apple didn't see the point in updating their pages when they knew they would be updating them just a day later. At least there won't be new iMacs since I just bought mine.

Can't you be more optimistic (instead of realistic)? ;) :)
haha.. I think the Power Macs will top out at 2.5 while a Freescale G4 would probably be around 1.7 Ghz. I don't remember what they were testing them at.. anyone else know?

I really hope you are right, iGary. That would be the catalyst I need to buy a Powerbook now, instead of waiting for the Intel models.

Higher resolution would be nice too...

Yeah I would love to see an entirely new Power Book. Not that I have any gripe with the current design, it's just that Apple always seems to blow me away whenever they redesign a product.
