Although I am extremely satisfied with the HomePod as an audio device, I face two issues the are extremely irritating:
1. When using the HomePod as a Mac speaker and watching a movie from the Mac using any kind of media player (VLC, IINA, etc), the HomePod's audio lags for more than 2 seconds, which makes watching movies on the Mac using HomePod a non starter. Obviously I can adjust the audio lag in VLC but it is irritating having to do so everytime I want to watch a movie. Keep in mind that this is not a VLC specific or network issue, it happens with movies played through any media player I tried, but it never happens when watching videos in, say, YouTube. I know I'm not the only one with this problem, but in all the other relevant topics, no one has come up with a solution or explanation as to why this happens.
2. When restarting my Mac, the HomePod is not selected as the default output device and I have to manually select it. What is strange though is that everytime time I choose the HomePod as the output device, my network momentarily crashes, all my network devices get disconnected from the home network, internet etc for a few seconds and then return and stay connected without issues. A few other users seem to encounter this issue as well; one possible solution offered was to change the QoS Type in the router settings from SSID to WMM or vice versa; I tried both settings but the behavior remains the same.
I'd appreciate it if you could help me out with any of these two issues.
