I keep my dock icons to a minimum, so when I open an App I can switch to it from the dock. When I close the App, the icon is usually gone.

However, If I move the icon of an open app around, it stays there and I have to manually drag it out until it disappears in puff of smoke.

Any ideas on how to keep the icon to not stick to the dock when it is moved around?

Thanks

  • To keep an app in the Dock you right-click and say Keep in Dock.
  • To only have the icon in the Dock when the app is running, then right-click on it and choose Remove from Dock.
  • To move any icon around on the Dock, simply click and hold on one and drag it to a new spot. The other icons will move around to create an opening for it. If you leave the dock and release then it'll poof away.
  • You can't move apps to the other side of the "crosswalk" where the trash can is at. That's for files and folders only.
Hope that clears up your confusion.
