Hello guys, I have some interesting information for big iMac Fan (Like me).

- Last years there are 3 prototype big iMac.
- The first one use old intel chassis, same 27" panel as 2020, and M1 processor.
- The second come around Last-August it occupied the 24" chassis style, 27" inch panel and M1 processor.
- The last one come around Last-November it occupied the 24" chassis style in black, 27" inch XDR panel and M1 max processor.
- My pal tell me that after start of this year there are no new prototype.
- He still believed that big iMac is still not dead. (but a bit worried that there are no sign of new prototype)

That all I known.

I’d love to see the new “black version” , that sounds like a winner at least Appearance wise👍🏻

Given that (as the OP noted back in March) there still hasn't been any apparent traction beyond those early prototypes, I'm guessing that they all kind'a flopped internally, possibly because the hardest part is figuring out where in the product matrix a given product actually fits. After all, they moved up to a 24" display for the "smaller" iMac... and that's getting awfully close to the size of the former "larger" iMac. So what incentive would people have for spending more money on a 27" version?

Personally, I think that Apple might answer that question by moving up to a 32" display, when they finally do pull the trigger on the next large-form-factor iMac -- assuming of course that they can find a source for display panels that would meet the needs of their target audience. Chances are, whatever form a larger iMac takes, it'll be marketed as the new "iMac Pro" -- and so, it won't be even remotely cheap.

Well said, zarmanto, but when have you seen the word “cheap” associated with Apple 🤦‍♂️👍🏻

Thanks for the update @Amethyst, so my question would be.. Is the Apple Studio Display a possible enclosure for an upcoming iMac 27"? Or would they opt for the 24" inch form factor as in hardware design?

I'm asking because the Apple Studio Display does look like a full built-in-mac but without an M1 Pro or a M1 Max inside of it.

Not particularly likely: that would seriously dilute the market for the current Studio lineup. (That also happens to be another one of the reasons that I think Apple would be more likely to veer towards a 32" iMac Pro.)

That said... did you know that the Apple Studio Display kind'a is a computer? At least in that, it has its own CPU; it's just not necessarily a desktop class CPU. (It's an A13 Bionic.)
