Couple weeks ago I tried to watch the Age of Samarai. No matter which way I tried to start it all I got was the spinning red circle. After multiple tries, I left it go overnight. Still nothing. I logged out of Netflix, rebooted the AppleTV and it still occurs.

Last night I tried to watch Drive to Survive, same thing occurs. I haven't found anything else in Netflix that does this. Both of these shows work without issue on our ATV 4K.

Both of these shows being ATMOS had me thinking maybe that's the cause, nope, other ATMOS shows work.

I'm assuming you're in the US?

age of samurai is in HD and 5.1 for me - (assuming it's AoS battle for Japan, I didn't see others)
drive to survive is atmos

both play fine for me. although I'm on the 14.5 public beta. It's looking like the public release is coming soon.

try rebooting your router and network gear also

Deleted Netflix, reinstalled, all working now. Now those shows display "5.1" in the title now and not ATMOS. My assumption is something got corrupted and the Netflix app thought the ATV 4 was a ATV 4K.

I am keeping an eye out for the 14.5 release as I hope it fixes Airplay from Big Sur to ATV, not getting my hopes too high on that.

it's a little odd, sometimes things don't show as atmos, till you play something atmos.
Before you play the first video, the aTV thinks it can't do atmos, so hides the badge. When you play it the aTV and audio system re-negotate, and the aTV realizes it can do atmos, after that the badge is no longer hidden.
