A friend of mine just got a mac and needs a few things to use it on his corporate network.

He needs to change the name of the machine on the network, meaning the name that I guess shows up when you go to connect to it via a windows machine. I guess his company names every machine a unique numbered name so they can keep track of them on the network.

Secondly, he needs to be able to join a domain. I'm not even sure what he means by that. But it isn't a workgroup which is all I could think of.

Thanks

I think I just found the computer name, under Sharing, its at the top. Can it not have the .local appended on the end?

Thanks, thats probably what he wants.

This is just one of the reasons I love macrumors. People are very helpful and quick.
