hi,

I just waiting on delivery of my 1tb external hard drive (tomorrow morning I hope) to move my iTunes and iPhoto library onto.
I was going to use my 150gb Western Digital My Passport portable drive to backup my OS, so I can upgrade the RAM and then next week install Leopard (please no suggestions to go straight to Snow Leopard - I'll do that later but that is not what this thread is about.)

the question is
- is the aforementioned portable drive okay to use to back up my OS?
- does a backup drive need to have it own power source?
- is Super Duper the best method to backup my MAC? why not the method provided by Apple in Disk Utility?
- I've attached a picture of what the portable drive shows in finder? should I format this with Disk Utilty BEFORE BACKING UP? I assume that stuff is for windows???

cheers
