I thought it'd be good to sing the praises of Siri, for how I've been using it this year.
My running setup used to be iPod Shuffles + a Bluetooth adapter to connect with my Airpods 2 ... but, I started running with a hydration pack that has a spot that just barely fits my house key and iPhone 13 Mini, so I switched to that as the content provider for my Airpods 2.
1. I like how my Garmin app now talks to me during runs for pace/progress updates, via the iPhone.
2. Good to have phone with me in case it were needed.
3. Don't need to sync the Shuffles, which was always a strange pain on modern macOS with connection issues at times, etc
4. Siri has been pretty much great for what I've been asking of it.
Before I start the run, I pick the playlist I'll want and get it playing and then when out running I only really need it to change the volume at times (depending upon ambient road noise) or turn shuffle on/off. Occasionally I ask it things like "what time is sunset" and "any chance of rain", all usually done perfectly. Sometimes I've had Siri reply to messages for me also, while running, and it's been nearly perfect at doing that. For song skipping, I do much prefer the tap gesture on my Airpods 2 (left side for previous and right side for next).
All in all, in this somewhat limited context, Siri has been great.
Obviously in 2025 and beyond, the expectations for assistants are higher than this, but I did want to at least have an all positive comment about Siri in its current form.
