Some songs (mp3) don't sync to iOS devices via iTunes

Driving me batty; some songs that are in a playlist in iTunes just won't transfer over to my ipad2 or iphone4. I don't get an error or anything but they just won't transfer. I downloaded the MP3's from youtube if that makes a difference.
