(make sure it is not plugged in)

Begin playing a song in the iPod,
put the screen to sleep. (turn off the screen)

now try to adjust the volume using the volume slider on the side of the phone.
hold it down and see if it works.

I hear a clicking noise when trying to adjust the volume, but the volume never changes unless i turn the screen on.

Now turn the screen on and they to adjust it (but dont slide the unlock thing first) make sure you see the OS X like volume control. hold down the volume up or down button on the side. Does it adjust smoothly? or is it jittery?

It works for me, music goes louder if I press the side buttons

Edit-I wait, it wasn't plugged it, just a sec!

Edit 2x-Still works!

Time to send your iphone in and have it replaced

I wish I could,

the dots on the screen are killing me!

but I just synced it up, and it works fine now!

weird!

Thanks anyway!

The dots would be considered for an exchange I think if you brought it into apple.
All these crazy combinations that if you do this and 10 other steps this wont work properly most likelly they wont qualify.
I wouldnt even bring them up :)

I already talked to apple about the dots, they said they couldnt do anything.

The speaker problem seemed to fix itself with a sync so I figure something screwed up in the last sync or something. not a big deal...

I know they replaced it to others when they complained.
Maybe try a different apple store or a different time when theres another manager on duty.
Tell them your friend had the same problem and got a new iphone and that you shouldnt put up with dead pixels due to a manufacturers fault.
