Hey,
As far as i know Hynix and Epildia Memory is usually used in the 7950 Cards.
I got a reference Design from Gigabyte that has Samsung RAM on it.

I already tried to flash it with no results:
  • Using a ROM for Hynix or Epildia Memory gives me a Bootscreen but with false Colours
  • Using the Netkas Skript first didn't work, then i found a new version of fixrom and the script worked. Nevertheless i never got a Bootscreen but the card works "fine" with the PC Bios Part
  • I tried it by hand with a HEX editor (found all relevant hints in the original File, this forum and netkas gave me for the right Places) and used a Windows Efi tool to correct the checksum, same problem as with the Netkas Skript.
  • I searched for "Hynix" in the original Rom, and replaced all timings with Samsung Timings (https://www.overclock.net/forum/67-amd-ati/1554360-tahiti-memory-timings-patch-hynix-vram.html) -> no Picture
Is it possible that the MAC Part of the ROM Memory timings two? Is all Hardware relevant stuff in the PC-ROM?

Just for the Record, i already ordered a 280x Card. I started this thread to understand a little bit more about the Efi problematic.

I attachted The original ROM.

That's really interesting. Probably less hassle to get one with Hynix or Epildia memory. But Apple may give us boot screens within the next couple weeks on new AMD cards via a firmware update so you might want to wait.
