120Hz because the iPhone is used almost all day (to browse M.R.)

Better cameras + cinematic mode for YouTube

I’m strongly considering going from 12 pro to 13 pro for the reasons already stated but my max battery shows as only being 87% and I’ve had it less than a year. And even at the start I’ve never felt like the battery life was that good, so the allegations of improved batter life are appealing.

Plus I can get a pretty good trade amount on the 12 pro and either pay about $19/month for 24 months through apple or $2.75/mo for 36 months through AT&T. At this point, that is what I’m struggling with the most.

I mean from no pro 12 to no pro 13 - because there is very small difference I think...

My battery is at 85% after a year with the 12 Pro. I would never recommend the 6.1 Pro version to anyone. If you’re gonna get a pro, get the Max. I personally am going with the 13, I don’t really need the Pro after spending a year with one. Next year if the hole punch camera rumors are true and only exclusive to the 14 Pro, then I’ll jump to the Max.

How many cycles do you have ? Do you charge twice a day? Do you use fast charger or magsafe ?

If you read the title or the OP, they make it clear this thread is about the non Pro, and the upgrades (or relatively lack of) between the non pro phones. There are already plenty of threads about the Pro so please stop hijacking this one

this feature is only available on the Pro models and not the standard ones. It’s very clear from the title that this thread is about the standard 13 models not the Pros, so not sure how the above comment is really relevant

That is my reasoning right there. The screen brightness and camera upgrades and battery are the main ones. No desire for the pro models after using my S21 with a 120hrtz screen. And the fact i really dont like the weight of the pro models. Had the X,XS, 11 PRO. Skipped the pro models with the 12 pro. A often over looked fact that the non pro models have better build materials. As in the metal used. Stainless steel is cheap, even 316l. 7700 series space grade aluminum is three times as much per pound, almost 4 times as much. It has a similar scratch resistance to titanium as well as weight.

Thanks !

I added to original post :

Ultrawide - New faster sensor

but remove macro photography (only in Pro)

Regular 12>13 seems like a weak upgrade. A barely superior soc, same ram, same wifi. Marginal camera improvements, but frankly if you want the best camera improvements you’ll go for the pro. Brightness wouldn’t make any difference for me; the improvement in battery life is probably the one major upgrade.

I feel like it makes sense to skip this year as a 12 owner unless you want 120hz or top notch camera improvements, in which case the 13 pro makes sense. I’ll wait for the 14 series, I like the idea of the rumoured 14 non pro “max”.

I charge overnight but have found myself needing to charge twice a day now...fast charger. Heavy user since I use my phone to work, as well.

The battery on my iPhone 12 Pro is appallingly, inexcusably bad. On a recent trip to Vegas, I needed a portable charger to keep it from dying each day. And that was with average use (pictures, minimal videos, and Uber).

I completely understand a 12 user considering the 13 as a big upgrade just because the 12’s batteries are so underpowered and unusable.

I also struggle to see how for an average user that the camera improvements are a big enough selling point. Apple always resorts to using skilled professional photographers and cinematographers in their presentations to demonstrate the camera improvements. A vast majority of users can’t match this quality nor will have a reason to produce photos or videos of this quality.

Apple also made it obvious that the 12 Pro’s (not plus) camera upgrades were a farce because they included that “revolutionary” stabilization feature in all 13s that they somehow couldn’t get in the 12 Pro…

Unfortunately, I had to upgrade my phone last year due to a dying 6s+. Wish it had lasted one more year so I could have gotten the benefit of this year’s usable battery.
